Kavanaugh is a retreat and conference center of the Kentucky Conference of the United Methodist Church. The Center was founded in 1875 by Bishop H. H. Kavanaugh who had a dream to carve out a piece of God's creation and maintain it as a place for ministry and renewal. Times have changed, but we are still carrying out Bishop Kavanaugh's dream on 55 acres of creation affectionately referred to as "holy ground".
In 1947 an advertisement for the camp read: "The soil of Kavanaugh has been made sacred by the fact that in the settling of lives we have been lifted to nobler Christian living. The ground becomes holy ground because we have been touched by the Holy One." It is our prayer that you too will find Kavanaugh to be an environment in which you may experience the love, grace and guidance of God. |
